  1. 2. <ul><li>In the XV Century Spain and Portugal were rediscovered and divided into different territories. </li></ul><ul><li>Christopher Columbus left Spain to discover America. 12th October 1492. </li></ul>
  2. 4. <ul><li>The Aztecs </li></ul><ul><li>The Mayas </li></ul><ul><li>The Incas </li></ul><ul><li>When Columbus arrived to the Americas there were three indigenous tribes. </li></ul><ul><li>There were wars against the Spanish and these tribes to control these areas. </li></ul>

This is a place in Mexico. </li></ul><ul><li>There are still pyramids and temples there. </li></ul><ul><li>In 1592, Hernán Cortes invaded the Aztec tribe with the help of the Emperor Moctezuma II. </li></ul><ul><li>The new name of this place is Mexico City. </li></ul>
  4. 7. <ul><li>The Mayan culture wrote their own language. ´Mayan Script´. </li></ul><ul><li>They were a very important tribe before Columbus invaded. </li></ul><ul><li>The Mayan population still live in their tribes today. </li></ul>
  5. 9. <ul><li>The capital of the Incas is Machu Pichu. This is in Peru. </li></ul><ul><li>The Inca empire was the biggest in the New World. </li></ul><ul><li>The emperor of this empire was worshiped as the son of the sun. </li></ul>
  6. 10. <ul><li>Laws were made in Spanish </li></ul><ul><li>Institutions were created- all the information was controled from Sevilla to the Americas. </li></ul><ul><li>Spain became an Imperial Colony. There were battles with England and Holland over these territories. </li></ul><ul><li>Social problems- the indigenous population of the Incas, Mayans and Aztecs disappeared becauase of the wars. </li></ul>
