1. Import a color image ( I could
recommend you to pick out your favorite
movie star portrait)
2. Duplicate the image by dragging it
to the icon at the bottom of the object
palette.
3. Go to Menu/ Adjust/Desaturate and
turn your photo into gray scale
appearance.
4. Menu/ Image/Transform/”Umbral”
(threshold) the last option.
Canales RGB
A blanco Umbral: 137
Automatic Nivel Superior: 255
5. Select every grey area in the image
using Magic Wand tool (W) this is upon
your taste (try to share out three areas
at least) while selecting pressing Ctrl
key and Shift key for removing or
adding selection areas.
*WARNING: Areas in which Magic
Wand doesn’t work right can be
retouched by using mask brush tool
for a better whole grey area well-
selected.
 Mask Brush tool can be
resized upon your selecting
need when pressing Alt key
and dragging slightly the
mouse forwardly or
backwardly.
6. Use Zoom tool (Z) to focus the zone you are working the selection, left click (zoom in) and
right click (zoom out)

7. After you
get a whole grey
area selected at
the image create
a new object and
paint it using
Fill tool (F)
right click at
one color at the
color palette.
Every gray has its
own layer.
8. If you need to get some color you are
not using anymore but you want to
restore it to apply it again for some
new color selection area, for this
retouching action you got to go to a
color area in the object you’ve
already painted and then using the
dropper tool get the color by
clicking once: left click for frontal
color (Paint Tool) and right click (Fill Tool).
9. Maybe if you´ll see in your final
outcome as some pixels not painted
and as little holes they allow seeing
through them the layer behind (either
some color or transparent
background). When this happens I
recommend you to create a new object
layer and paint it with some color
according to your harmony creation
gamut.
