    • The October Crisis Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ) radical separatist group in 1960s, responsiblefor bombings that killed 5 people 5 October 1970 – FLQ kidnapped JamesCross (British Trade Commissioner) for his return, they demanded cash,release of their members from prison anda publication of their manifesto whichcalled for the independence of Quebec
    • October Crisis 5 days later, Pierre Laporte (QuebecCabinet minister) was also kidnappedby the FLQ as further leverage fordemandsOther FLQ members organizedstrikes and demonstrations 15 October – Federal governmentsent in heavily armed soldiers tooccupy Montreal
