Simple steps to exam success - Presentation Transcript

    1. Simple steps to exam success
    2. Use class time effectively * make sure you understand the work in class * ask questions if you are unsure * using class time wisely saves you wasting your own time later
    3. Develop study notes as you go * begin your study notes from the beginning of the course and revise them regularly. * keep your study notes short and concise. * use mind maps to organise information in ways that make sense to you.
    4. Revise regularly * keeping information fresh saves you having to relearn it later * small and regular revision sessions will pay big rewards later
    5. Reading your notes is not studying (not effective studying anyway) * use active techniques like testing yourself, or reading the notes out aloud. * be sure to complete practice questions under exam conditions.
    6. Learn as much about the test as possible * use study guides to help you prepare for the exam.   * ask your teacher questions about the exam including the content being tested and the format of the exam.
    7. Exam technique is essential * have a time management plan * read questions carefully and make sure you know what the question is asking * take time to plan your answers * plan for time to re-read your answers to ensure they make sense
    8. Sleep and eat well leading into your exam * staying up late cramming the night before is a very risky strategy. Difficult to think clearly when you are tired. * eat well and exercise to sharpen your senses leading into your examination period.
