The Battle Within

 1. 1. THE BATTLE WITHIN BY: Cody Wagner
 2. 2. 1.) Pathogen

Pathogens are microorganisms are the foreign invaders that attack the body and cause disease.

Some examples of pathogens are Fungus, Bacteria, Virus, and Parasites.

Pathogens are fought off by your Immune System…. The fighters in this battle are White Blood Cells, T-cells, and Memory cells.
 3. 3. 2.) Skin 3.)Tears

For the body to help get rid of foreign invaders it the skin gets slightly acidic so that it can kill the bad pathogens and bacteria on it.

Your tears is also what helps get the dirt and bacteria out of your eyes so that you don’t get sick.

Both of them get rid of the bad bacteria and pathogens so that you don’t get a disease or get a bad sickness.

 4. 4. 4.) Saliva 5.) Mucus

Saliva isn’t just your friend to help you break down food it is also there for collecting the bacteria and break it down so that it doesn’t get into your body. The thing that helps do this is the enzymes.

Mucus is in your nose.. It is there to trap the dust and other bad invaders.

 5. 5. 6.) Phagocytes 7.)Lymphocytes

Phagocytes are the first line of attack in the Immune System

What Phagocytes do is they attack the foreign invader and eat it by killing them with there own special chemicals.

Lymphocytes are the second line of defense

Lymphocytes connect to the invader by forming to it like a jigsaw puzzle they are called antibodies.

 6. 6. 8.) T-Cells 9.) Antigens

T-Cells are a type of lymphocyte and has thousands of receptor cells that attach to the bad bacteria or pathogen.

Antigens are bad substances that can enter the body and cause infections… it is possible to get rid of them through vaccinations.

 7. 7. 10.) Antibodies 11.) Bone Marrow

Antibodies are one of two important antigen recognition molecules of your Immune System.

They are what helps you destroy those harmful bacteria or infections.

Bone marrow is what helps make red blood cells.

There are many types of bone marrow.

 8. 8. 12.) Lymph nodes 13.) Cell Receptor Molecules

Lymph nodes are scattered through out the body and collect the foreign invaders. They contain white blood cells and kill off those bad bacteria and pathogens.

Cell receptor molecules are what helps the blood cells and all the other important killers to know what it is that they are killing and what kind of bacteria it is or pathogen or anything else.
