  • 3. Why Is This Important?
    • TEA now requires all teachers to complete the Texas Teacher STaR chart annually, beginning with the 2006-2007 school year.
    • Completing the STaR chart assists teachers in:
    • self-assessing, their attempt to effectively integrate technology in their curriculum
    • determine the growth toward meeting the goals of the Technology Long-Range Plan.
  • 4. 4 Key Areas of the Technology Long-Range Plan
    • There are 4 key areas that the chart focuses on:
    • Teaching and Learning
    • Educator Preparation & Development
    • Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support
    • Infrastructure for Technology

  • 6. How do I get started?
  • 7. Step 1
    • To Complete the Texas Teacher STaR Chart:
    • 1. Open your Internet Browser
    • 2. Go to www.tea.state.tx.us/starchart
    • 3. Click Login
  • 8. Step 2
    • Type in your Username and Password (Passwords are case sensitive)
    • If this is the first time you’ve logged in your password is: password
    • If you do not remember your password:
    • Under Forgot your Password? type in your Username and click on the Send Password button.
    • Retrieve your login info from your email account
    • Type in your username and password
    • Click Login
  • 9. Step 3
    • If this is the first time you’ve logged into the STaR Chart system, or if you have changed campuses, you will need to update your information.
  • 10. Step 4
    • Click Begin to see the first item.
    • For each item, click in the check box (􀂆) by the level that you feel best describes your classroom or school.
    • The screen will automatically advance to the next item.
    TL-1 and TL-2 have already been answered Click “more…” for detailed description This is an example of a more detailed description Click in the box that best describes your level
  • 11. Step 5
    • The STaR chart information will automatically update as you complete each screen.
    • Review your selected answers
    • Log off
  • 12. Summary
    • After completing the STaR chart, we hope that you find support, encouragement and some useful ideas on how you can use technology as a tool in your curriculum
  • 13. Where Do We Go From Here
    • When all teachers have completed their STaR charts. The campus STaR chart will be completed.
    • All teachers must complete their Teacher STaR Chart by
    • Monday, January 29, 2010 .
