January 10, 2012 MAIN IDEAS What is a Prairie?· flat or hilly land covered by grass· buffalo roam in groups or herds· not many trees· rain affects the height of the grass - Eastern prairies get more rain, therefore, taller grass than Western prairies.· Rich soil - wheat and oats grow well here
