The film is about adventures of a naive girl who is looking for some place
to sleep in an unreal city of stupidity and crime. A young girl comes a
day before the beginning of a school year, however, she is not let in
to the dormitory.
For the whole night Eva is looking for some place where she could sleep.
She meets a nice policeman, Piotr, and gets involved in half-real half-
fantastic events, in which main roles are played by unusual policemen,
thieves, undertaker’s men and prostitutes.

4. Mr Anatol’s Hat

„Mr Anatol’s Hat” is a mistake comedy with some criminal elements.
Its main character, a good-hearted clerk from Warsaw, who is
henpecked, buys a new hat. This event which at the beginning
seems to be so unimportant begins a series of unusual events. Mr
Anatol, who gets to work by means of public transport, as many
times he puts his hand into his pocket, he finds different
expensive things: watches, bracelets, etc. He is astonished,
worried and reports it to the police. However, he keeps finding
precious things in his pocket.

Iwona, a beautiful student, who lives with her grandmother, wins a
million. A happy girl tells about it some people met in the street.
She thinks that she is reach and decides to do shopping. Some
curious people buy everything out on Iwona’s account. A gang of
thieves takes also interest in the million won by Iwona. Mr Anatol,
who could be seen in a previous film entitled „Mr Anatol’s Hat”
gets involved in a course of the events and decides to undertake
some actions.

8. Whe were films about
Mr Anatol’s so popular?
„A comedy at last!" – such screams could be heard
when the film by Jan Rybkowski appeared.
At that time viewers could see only films which were
tragic, full of dramatic conflicts, sad and hopeless. It
seems to be the reason that films about Mr Anatol
were so popular and when one decided to go to the
cinema to see it, it was very difficult to get a ticket
for the film.
9. FOUR ARMOURED
AND A DOG

Genres: War film, Andventure film
A history of a team of a tank named "Rudy" and of a dog named Szarik,
which was in the past extremely popular among cinema visitors and
TV watchers.
At those times almost each child played at „the armoured”, the name
Szarik was given to almost each dog and girls were having plaits like
Marusia. No one can count how many people watched the film on TV
and on videao cassettes. However, it was estimated that as many as 7
million people went to the cinema to watch the film. In 1995 a quiz
was organised to find out the most popular Polish TV series and „Four
armoured and a dog” won.

their age, are boys having phantasy and crazy ideas. When some
ghosts turn suddenly up in an old castle, it prompts them to examine
into the unusual case.

Poldek and Duduś are settling off for summer holidays to the Hel
peninsula. They are to go with their aunt. Suddenly her
boyfried, Franek Szajba, appears and wants to take her to a
lake. She refuses because she has to see off the boys to a
station. Poldek encourages his aunt to go with her boyfriend.
So she does. Boys get some money for the tickets and from
this time on they have to paddle their own canoe.
Surprisingly they forget to take the money (which is Duduś’s
fault because he put on a book on the money). However,
they are not going to come back home and they begin their
trip to Hel by hitchhike, which is a beginning of a
fantastic adventure.

15. JANOSIK

Genres: Adventure film, Costume film
The TV series was made in the castle on the Pieskowa Skała (Dog’s Rock),
near Ojców, in other areas of the Podkarpacki Voivodship and also in
an atelier in Warsaw and in Praga. The script was written on the basis
of some legend about a robber living in the Tatra Mountains. The
legend is not treated too seriously. In the film there is a lot of humour
and funny scenes. There are a lot of amazing battles, fool-hardy
horse rides. There is even a fall off a rock. The series is divided into
13 episodes and each episode tells a suverrain story. As the whole
they create a story of adventures of a robbers’ band, to which Janosik
belongs.

Film characters – four boys and a girl at the age of 12 - 14 – don’t follow
social norms of behaviour. It seems that for them one step is enough
to start a life of hooligans. The film points out that teenagers need
authorities, ideals and patterns of behaviour. A romantic character of
Tolek Banan is a dream. Soon one can observe a process of changing
thanks to the imaginary character of Tolek Banan in the behaviour of
those four teenagers. In a course of time they learn to be friends and
be honest, in the name of a rule „One for all, all for one”.
