Vehicle Dynamics Technology (VDT) is a platform for low-cost vehicle safety devices like an expanded event data recorder (EDR). The VDT black box uses 6-axis MEMS sensors to continuously track a vehicle's 3-D position, velocity, and trajectory to enable automatic detection, analysis, and reporting of safety events beyond just crashes. VDT software recovers trajectories from black-box data and analyzes sensor parameters, while field testing is conducted at the National Driving Academy.
