(central) government ready to support professional development for webbies
Sustaining activity needs more than voluntary effort
Socitm has large constituency of web professionals from Better connected, WTS and related events
Socitm membership now available beyond ICT management

Revealed demand – Scottish web group, CoPs, Barcamps
Frustrated demand - SPIN, PSWMG
Socitm convened meeting Jan 09 involving SPIN, PSWMG, LocalDirectgov, central gov & third sector web reps
Socitm board commissioned report into feasibility
Report recommended Socitm set up group with launch Summer 09

Individual membership
Support for a community with chair and secretary
Admin support to get group going
Support to start professional skills framework development and liaison with CoI, GCN, DirectGov
Presence on Socitm website and support from corporate services eg press office
