Solar cogeneration uses parabolic troughs to concentrate sunlight and generate both electricity and thermal energy. The trough focuses sunlight onto photovoltaic cells to produce electricity, while a working fluid absorbs waste heat from the cells. This heated fluid can be used for low-temperature industrial processes like pasteurization. Testing showed the system achieved 30% electrical efficiency and 40% thermal efficiency, for a total solar energy conversion of 70%.
