PowerPoint: Annoying Audiences Since the 20th Century PowerPoint: Annoying Audiences Since the 20th Century Presentation Transcript

    • PowerPoint
Annoying audiences since the 20th Century!
    • Once upon a time,
      a presentations programme was invented
      and many saw it
And they saw that it was pretty good
    • It was used by
      High Flyers
      Across the globe
Microsoft® Presents: PowerPoint for Presentations: A great piece of software:
Set to cause misery for decades by misuse and lack of imagination
    • We were treated to graphs
      And clip art
      And meaningless tables
    • And usually
      with some
      seriously
      whizzy
      animation
    • It was all very 80s
    • We went on courses in the 90s
We used default fonts (or even Comic Sans)
      We overloaded on clipart
We had loads of bullet points on a slide
      We animated everything
And committed the cardinal sin of reading off a slide
We had too much text in each point
We used the slide templates, same as everyone else did…
And we bored our audiences silly
Oh, and did I mention the backgrounds?
When you’ve seen one background you’ve seen them all really….
And we were still stuck in the times design forgot
    • We followed the herd
    • We caused death by PowerPoint
    • Luckily we’ve moved on
    • Back to the
      21st Century
    • First,
      Break
      All the
      rules
    • Ditch
      the
      bullet
      points
      today
    • Use your own cool images if you have them, or use royalty free images
    • Let your slides support your words
    • Have fun!
