    2. 2. iCMLf: Who are we? <ul><li>Established by a group of leading hematologists </li></ul><ul><li>Founded & registered in 2009 as a charitable foundation </li></ul><ul><li>Mission: to improve the outcomes for patients with CML globally </li></ul><ul><li>Aims: Foster and coordinate global clinical and research collaborations </li></ul><ul><li>and to improve clinical practice and disease monitoring in CML </li></ul><ul><li>Advisors: 34 countries from all continents including patient </li></ul><ul><li>group representation </li></ul>

ERSAP Diagnosis and Testing Program Increasing access to equipment and facilities to enhance the diagnosis and monitoring of CML patients thus improving potential outcomes. <ul><li>Building partnerships to increase access to CML diagnostics in emerging regions </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Facilitating sample shipments to reference laboratories </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Increasing capacity for local CML monitoring providing equipment, training and resources under the mentorship of CML centres of excellence </li></ul></ul>
    10. 10. 1) Through iCMLf funding and support <ul><ul><li>iCMLf grants to increase capacity to diagnose and monitor CML patients </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Program open for centres in emerging regions </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Grants awarded on evaluation of submitted proposals </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Grants up to US $10,000 along with additional support from a partnering CML centre of excellence </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Grants have been awarded to centres in Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria and Uzbekistan </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Centres have the flexibility to run the program according to their local situation with the ongoing support of a CML centre of excellence </li></ul></ul>
    11. 11. 2) Through iCMLf expert resources and long term partnerships <ul><li>Blood screening across the pacific </li></ul><ul><ul><li>An example of sample shipment to increase access to diagnosis and monitoring </li></ul></ul><ul><li>In September 2010 8 iCMLf advisors offered free PCR testing </li></ul><ul><li>In July 2011 we had the the first opportunity to make use of this </li></ul><ul><li>TMF approached us to help a patient in the Philippines </li></ul><ul><li>1 patient developed to 30 </li></ul><ul><li>Developing a long term partnership between Adelaide and </li></ul><ul><li>Philippine General Hospital </li></ul>
    12. 12. 3) Through iCMLf education and technical expertise <ul><li>iCMLf / MAX Diagnostic Project, Cepheid GeneXpert instrument </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Rapid molecular testing capability, across multiple diseases </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Goal: to utilize TB instruments in place in key countries to provide a diagnostic solution in resource poor countries </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Project Status: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Identified 6 priority countries (Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Honduras, Nepal and El Salvador) Existing instruments in Ethiopia and Uzbekistan, limited cartridges for both sites </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Training Ethiopian physician in Adelaide during ERSAP Preceptorship and Uzbekistan physician in October through iCMLf diagnostics grant </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Project launched in Ethiopia October 6 and Uzbekistan October 26 </li></ul></ul>“ No more blind treatment of CML patients” Dr Gebremedhin Ethiopia
