    1. 1. DISCOVER YOUR GOD- GIVEN GIFTS Don & Katie Fortune
    2. 2. DISCOVERWhy do you think and act the way you do?How do your gifts affect your relationships? What career/ministry suits you best? How will you get joy out of using your gifts?
    3. 3. THREE CATEGORIES1 Peter 4:10, “As each one has received a gift, minister it toone another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.Gift = Greek - a divine gratuity, a spiritual endowment, afree gift. Nothing we can earn. The command is not to tryto deserve it, but use it. This gift was given us at birth andwill not be taken away. This is the way God made us.
    4. 4. MANIFESTATION GIFTS1 Cor. 12:4-11, “4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 Andthere are diversities of activities, but it is the same God whoworks all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given toeach one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word ofwisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledgethrough the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, toanother gifts of healings by the same[b] Spirit, 10 to another theworking of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning ofspirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another theinterpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit worksall these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
    5. 5. NINE MANIFESTATION GIFTSThe word of wisdom, a revelation of wisdom beyond natural human wisdom that enables aperson to know what to do or say.The word of knowledge, a revelation of information for a person, group, or situation thatcould not have been known by any natural means.Faith, the kind of wonder-working faith that move mountains an waits expectantly forresults.Gifts of healings - the many different ways and varieties of degrees in which God manifesthealing.Working of miracles - the demonstration of the power and action of God that goes beyondnatural laws.
    6. 6. EXHIBITION, EXPRESSIONProphecy, an anointed proclamation of God through an individual to encourage, exhort, orcomfort.Discerning of spirits, a person’s ability to perceive what type of spirit is in operation in agiven situation.Various kinds of tongues, the languages given to the believer by the Holy Spirit but notunderstood or learned by the speaker.Interpretation of tongues, the supernatural ability to express the content of what has beenspoken in tongues.Note: These gi%s belong to the Holy Spirit is in charge of dictating when these gi%s are to beused through an available and expectant vessel. These are not gi%s WE possess.
    7. 7. THE MINISTRY GIFTSEphesians 4:11-12, “And He Himself gave some to beapostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastorsand teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for thework of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”Note: He Himself gave some... not all function in the 5-foldministry gifts... but all have gifts.
    8. 8. FIVE-FOLD MINISTRYApostle - establishes and strengthens churchesProphet - speaks forth the message of GodEvangelist - called to preach the GospelPastor - feeds and shepherds the believersTeacher - instructs believers in the Word of GodThese are not offices, titles, or positions, but functions orjob descriptions.
    9. 9. A person doesn’t become a prophet by being given the name. Rather, he becomes aprophet as he develops his God-given ability to function in prophet-like way, responding to God’s specific call with a willing heart. The purpose of the ministry gifts are clear: Eph. 4:11-13, “for the equipping of thesaints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we allattain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God...”A prepared & equipped group of believers, doing the work of the ministry causesChrist’s Body on Earth to function as His true representatives. You may call thosewho function in the 5 ministry gifts as equippers.
    10. 10. MOTIVATIONAL GIFTSRomans 12:6-8, “6 We have different gifts, according to thegrace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, thenprophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is toencourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then givegenerously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to showmercy, do it cheerfully.
    11. 11. BUILT IN GIFTSGod created you, uniquely, with special gifts and abilities. You don’t work to deserve them, but they work for you. These gifts were meant to be used in cooperation with theHoly Spirit in our lives.Seven
    12. 12. SEVEN GIFTSG4396, Propheteia = to perceive and communicate by divineinspiration the purposes of God, whether by reprimand and warningthe wicked, or comforting the afflicted, or revealing things hidden; esp.by foretelling future events. (prophet)G1249, Diakonia = service, or ministering, esp. those who execute thecommands of others to promote the Kingdom of God. 14. 14. IN CONTEXTRom. 12:1-5, “I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] themercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your membersand faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God,which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. Do not beconformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficialcustoms], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its newideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good andacceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable andperfect [in His sight for you].For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warneveryone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [notto have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with soberjudgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him. For as in onephysical body we have many parts (organs, members) and all of these parts do not have thesame function or use, So we, numerous as we are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) andindividually we are parts one of another [mutually dependent on one another].” AMP
    15. 15. Only through wholehearted dedication can our motivationalgifts be used as God intended. Our mind becomes a personalized revelation of Godthrough renewing our minds in His Word.Have the right attitude about ourselves, grateful andhumble, not selfish or conceited.Understand the various gifts in Christ’s body and worktogether in mutual interdependence.
    16. 16. Using our motivational gifts through walking in the Spirit isthe only way we will find fulfillment. These gifts are the motivating forces in our lives.Unless channeled appropriately, we will only experiencefrustration. The gifts will become polluted if used for selfish reasons.
    17. 17. A COMPOSITE LIST1 Cor. 12:27-31, “Now you are the body of Christ, andmembers individually. 28 And God has appointed these inthe church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers ofmiracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speakwith tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire thebest gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.”
    18. 18. THE LOVE CHAPTERWhen operating in the motivational gifts, the ministry gifts,or the manifestation gifts, if you don’t do it in love, you aredoing nothing.May we write this truth on our hearts and tattoo it upon oureyelids, keeping it ever ahead of all we do.
