    • MATCHING SUBJECTS ON LECTURES (1/3) “FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS” Unit “Financial Instruments (ECFS 867)”: Develop an understanding of concepts, techniques and practices that are needed to make financial decisions in an increasingly competitive business environment. Unit “Debt Capital Markets (ECFS 886)”: Develop an understanding of the instruments used in raising finance through short and term debt markets, securitisation and credit derivatives. Unit “Corporate Finance (ECFS 866)”: These financial management decisions deal with financing (raising funds) investing (allocating funds to particular uses) and managing assets (evaluating operating practices). Topics for lectures:- Senior (un)secured/ covered/ subordinated Bonds, credit derivatives,structured finance (ABS/CDO).- Project finance, asset finance, commercial real estate finance, corporatefinance.- How do companies finance themselves? Loans, bonds, equity, factoring,securitization, sale-and-lease back. 2
    • MATCHING SUBJECTS ON LECTURES (2/3)“FINANCIAL MARKETS INTERACTION ECONOMYUnit “Economics of Financial Markets Business Economics (ECFS 888)”: How a market system operates; how economic factors interact with markets. Topics for lectures:- The Euro-crisis and impact on Asia/ Australia, competitive position of AUD.- What are the current threats for Australian banks? How do Australian banksposition themselves compared to other banks?- History and take-away messages of the GFC.- Role of regulators, central bank, rating agencies, and monoliners.- Country risk and what are the principal risk factors when analyzing a country?Difference between sovereign and country risk? 3
    • MATCHING SUBJECTS ON LECTURES (3/3) RISK MANAGEMENT Unit “Financial Risk Management (ECFS 868)”: Systemic sources of risk that are difficult to quantify or model. Basel I & II, credit portfolio risk. Unit “Infrastructure & Property (ECFS 865)”: The focus of this unit includes the structuring & arrangement of finance for property & infrastructures. Unit “Credit Portfolio Management (ECFS 896)”: Emphasis on working knowledge of credit risk management and credit models. Topics for lectures:- Credit risk management and financial markets.- Portfolio risk management and loss mitigation techniques.- Role of Basel II and risk decisions based on default and cash flowmodels 4
