    bitly is a utility that allows users to shorten a long URL, share it, and then track the resulting usage.     It's much easier to include the link in an email or Twitter post without it breaking or taking up space.
    To see how many clicks that link has gotten and explore other info, simply append a plus sign to the end of the url:

    Create a bitly account to manage all of your shortened links in one place, ad your facebook, twitter accounts and see all your bitly link stats in a single location.
  • 4. Shorten your link
    Type in your URL in the blue box, click shorten
  • 5. Customize your link
    You can click Customize to personalize your bitly link and name the link what you want (must be available)
  • 6. Customize your link
    Name the shortened customized link what you want (must be available)
    Click Customize
  • 7. View your links click through stats
    Click on Info Page + to see the click through and sourcing stats of that link
  • 8. View your links stats
    View of stats is in real time.
    There is also a QR code generated for each link. You can use in print or online to direct people to scan it with their mobile device to take them to the link as well.
  • 9. View your links stats
    As the link is clicked hourly reporting is highlighted on the graph
  • 10. View your Links Stats
    You can also look at past 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, and Hour statistics by changing it here.
    Pie graphs are shown for referring sources and countries.
  • 11. See Sources of your clicks
    Referring sources and countries are broken down below the pie graphs
  • 12. Archives
    You can access your history and view all or each of your links
