It has several masters to serve, linguistic, pedagogic, administrative, acquisitional and ideological, all of which are in essence free to define their own interests without paying heed to the subject-specific constraints of testing theory and practice (Candlin,1990)
What tensions could arise?
It is not easy to cover all the required areas.
The teacher have to adequate all the required elements (linguistic, pedagogic, administrative, acquisitional, ideological, etc) to the competences he/she is going to evaluate. (Teacher decides)
Efficiency and Reliability could be affected in communicative language tests.
