  2. 2. <ul><li>India is certainly the top IT and BPO outsourcing hub of the world. Major firms in the US, UK and Europe are depended on Indian outsourcing firms to a large extent. But the recent global meltdown has been showing a significant effect on the Indian IT and BPO sector. This is evident from the decline in the demand for telemarketing and IT support. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>With the US president Barack Obama strongly opposing outsourcing in protection of the domestic industry, fears among the IT and BPO job aspirants in India are increasing. As the Indian IT and BPO industry draws most of its revenues (about 60%) from the US, the segment is expected to lose many more jobs in the near future. This is creating certain ambiguity in the IT and BPO job seekers in India. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Experts say that the industry is certainly having a tough time but opinion that the conditions may not prevail for a long time. Driven by the English proficient and high tech-savvy urban workforce who work at much lower wages when compared to western and American counterparts, the sector is expected to rebound back in a short period. It is even expected to grow at a great pace once the world global economy rebounds. </li></ul>
