  2. 2. <ul><li>Method </li></ul><ul><li>Construct a pentagon, and draw a small circle centred at each point </li></ul><ul><li>Draw a large circle to inscribe these circles </li></ul><ul><li>Draw circles concentric to the small circles, and terminate all curved lines at their intersection points </li></ul>Quatrefoil construction
  3. 3. Step 1: Draw a vertical line and a horizontal line intersecting at point A near the centre of the page
  4. 4. Step 2: Centre compasses at A and draw a circle radius 25mm
  5. 5. Step 3: Mark a vertical line tangent to the horizontal line at B
  6. 6. Step 4: Scribe a circle centred at B radius 50mm
  7. 7. Step 5: Scribe an arc A C D
  8. 8. Step 6: Scribe an arc C D E
  9. 9. Step 7: Line CE is one side of the inscribed pentagon. Step off Line CE around the circle to form pentagon C E F G H C
  10. 10. Step 8: Clean up construction lines
  11. 11. Step 9: Bisect line CH at J
  12. 12. Step 10: Draw a circle radius HJ
  13. 13. Step 11: Draw identical circles at C E F and G
  14. 14. Step 12: Draw an inscribing circle centred at B
  15. 15. Step 13: Draw a circle at B that is half the size of the inscribing circle
  16. 16. Step 14: Draw concentric circles with radius 25mm at C E F G and H
  17. 17. Step 15: Terminate all circles at their intersection points
  18. 18. Step 16: Clean up construction lines and darken outlines
