  • 3. Survey Summary• VMware continues to dominate the virtualization space with over 54% ofrespondents choosing them as their preferred vendor. However, Microsoft’smarket share is growing steadily with over 18% indicating a preference for HyperV.• Almost a quarter of respondents claimed that more than 75% of their entire ITinfrastructure is now virtualized.• Only 12% of those surveyed admitted to using Xen and KVM, leading open sourcevirtualization platforms.• Security was the number one concern for those adopting private cloudtechnologies, with cost and performance concerns largely addressed by theleading vendors.• 52% of respondents indicated that their preferred private cloud supplier wasVMware.• Of those surveyed 25% have already deployed Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service(IaaS) solutions with a further 35% planning to in the near future.• Amazon remains the clear leader in the IaaS space. When asked to identify theirexisting cloud service providers, 56% of respondents chose AWS, while only 19%selected Rackspace.• Only 16% of respondents indicated Big Data as an area for investment in 2013.• Just 13% admitted that they would be migrating to Windows 8 in 2013.Friday, 17 May 2013 © Opsview Ltd. Our survey also suggests vendors have largelyaddressed concerns around performance and cost.

Of the leading open sourcealternatives, OpenStack has significantly more mindshare than eitherCloudStack or Eucalyptus.

Given IaaS is still still relatively new, it isnot surprising that it has yet to feature in the plans of 40% of respondents.

However our respondents remained skepticalabout the relevancy of Big Data Analytics and Windows 8 to theirbusinesses.
