      Aiming High- The Context
      • Rebalancing the public narrative about young people.
      • Empowering young people to increase their influence over the design and delivery of services for them.
      • Increasing the number of local places for young people to go.
      • Removing barriers and supporting young people to access local opportunities and services for them.
      • Improving the capacity and quality of services for young people.
      • Supporting and developing the youth workforce to employ the very best practice in working with young people .
      6 Key Objectives
      • Achievements:
        • Launch of myplace
        • YSDF Pathfinders and Managing Body
        • £60m p.a. for YOF/YCF guaranteed until at least 2011
        • Extra YOF/YCF for 50 most deprived areas
        • Extra funding for 15 priority areas for targeted support
        • Almost 10,000 young people benefited from residentials
        • New Performance Indicator
        • Youth Task Force
        • Launch of Information and Signposting Project
      Aiming high – One Year on
      • But still more to do:
        • Some structural reorganisation needed
        • Improve quality of provision
        • Do all we can to reach most disadvantaged and vulnerable
        • Bridge gap between young people and adults
        • Fully integrate youth and 14-19 offers
        • Schools and colleges need to be better engaged
        • Remodel youth workforce
        • Improve publicity about positive activities harnessing existing arrangements and technologies including social media
      Integrated youth support services
      • Over next 12 months:
        • myplace : all initial investment decisions made – Feb 09:
        • YSDF gearing up to deliver 2nd round of funding:
        • Building on YOF/YCF to embed empowerment of young people
        • Moving forward on workforce reform:
        • Additional PAYP baseline funding on stream for all local authorities
        • Publish strategy for youth sector support
        • Participation in positive activities base lined
        • Share the learning from the Information and Signposting project delivered by Substance
