World's First Front and Back LCD Screens - Presentation Transcript

    1. http://www.photoicon.com/gear/176/ Samsung TL220 and TL225 World's First Front and Back LCD Screens by PHIL GOMES Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has unveiled the TL220 and TL225, two digital cameras that feature an alternative to articulated LCD designs for allowing the subject to preview themselves in the photo.
    2. 'Both cameras offer gesture support, which means that for example images on the Samsung TL220 and TL225 can be rotated by tracing an O shape on the screen, or deleted by tracing an X shape' In place of the more common tilt/swivel mechanism that lets the rear-panel LCD be redirected to face in front of the camera, the Samsung TL220 and Samsung TL225 both include a small secondary LCD display on their front panel. The two cameras are nearly identical with the exception of their choice of touch-panel rear displays, with the TL220 opting for a fairly standard 230,000 dot, 3.0-inch LCD, while the TL225 selects a high resolution 1,152,000 dot 3.5-inch wide screen LCD with haptic feedback. Both cameras offer gesture support, which means that for example images on the Samsung TL220 and TL225 can be rotated by tracing an O shape on the screen, or deleted by tracing an X shape. The TL225's haptic feedback vibrates the screen slightly to provide a tactile confirmation when the user presses an on- screen control. The choice of displays brings a slight difference in weight, with the TL220 being the lighter of the pair by half an ounce. Otherwise, the two cameras are near-identical. The Samsung TL225 and TL220 both have twelve megapixel resolution, and Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan branded, optically stabilized 4x optical zoom lenses. Both cameras draw power from a Lithium Ion rechargeable, store data on MicroSD cards or in 55MB of internal memory, and will be available from September 2009. The Samsung TL220 is priced at about $300, and the Samsung TL225 commands a $50 premium for a final price of about $350.
