Our Mother of Mercy’s Leaping out to Stewardship <ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy Church knows that stewardship is not simply making donations or taking care of the building and grounds. Our Mother of Mercy’s has Grown the past two years! <ul><li>Youth groups have leaped into service in the church and larger community. The youth has participated in many Diocesan events especially, The March for Life in which they had one of the largest groups & last year participated in the Diocesan Youth Convention by leading the group into a wonderful prayer experience that is still talked about today. In the parish, the youth share in the responsibility of liturgy, social outreach and parish life. </li></ul>
Our Mother of Mercy Church’s Moments in Stewardship <ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy Stewardship Committee meets once a month to assist with activities to increase parish participation in the Bishop Faith Appeal, parish life and promotion of Stewardship. They are responsible for the BFA kickoff event in the parish. </li></ul><ul><li>Once a month, the parishioners receive a copy of “Grace in Action” a color handout about living Catholic a Stewardship. The bulletin from the parish is now in color. (Samples enclosed) </li></ul><ul><li>Sponsored Stewardship Drives with parish organizations to increase parishioners participation in outreach and ministry. </li></ul>

Our Mother of Mercy Church’s Moments in Stewardship <ul><li>Increase number in infant baptisms in 2007 was 25 and 2 adult baptisms. In 2008 so far 13 and 4 received in the church due to the RCIA program. </li></ul><ul><li>In the past two years, Our Mother of mercy church has increased in Diocesan Assessments as evidence of the parish financial support of the diocese. While supporting the needs of a school and summer camp activities, our parish has been able to make its payments in the assessments and increase insurance costs. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church twins with Our Lady of Assumption Church Oke-Owa, Ijebu-Ode Diocese, Nigeria; we give spiritual and financial support to our brothers and sisters. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy Church has increased its support of the Bishop’s Faith appeal by 75%. Our BFA goal in the past two years went from $84, 000 to $98,500.00 which of course corresponds to our Assessment Tax of 13% to the Diocese. In 2005, the parish gave $62,432.00. In 2006 the parish gave $77,179.50 before Rev. Davis paid the difference. In 2007, the parish gave $82,372.50 before the pastor gave the difference. This was 90% of the goal. Enclosed is Bishop’s Guillory letter of support. </li></ul>
Our Mother of Mercy Church’s Moments in Stewardship <ul><li>Social Apostolate Office has office hours on Monday thru Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is staffed by volunteers of St. Vincent DePaul society. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy possesses an active Health Care Ministry team that assists at every Sunday mass and hosts health fairs throughout the year. Mrs. Frances Gallow is the chairperson. </li></ul><ul><li>We also have a very active Home and Sick bound ministry that reaches 50 of our elderly and sick members who can not come to church on a regular basis. These ministers bring the Eucharist, the parish bulletin and gifts from the parish. This Easter each person received a beautiful rosary and prayer booklet. </li></ul><ul><li>Our Mother of Mercy Hall and meeting rooms host many workshops for Married Couples, Extra Ordinary ministers, Ministers of Hospitality, Lector workshops, Parents workshops, Youth workshops, Lock ins, and Kwanzaa Celebrations. Sacramental classes and a follow up workshop on the National Black Catholic Congress were hosted by the parish. This was in partnership with the Office of African American ministries, Linda LaCour is the director. </li></ul>
