  • Racism / Racisme   http://beariscool.blogspot.com/ Quotes about Racism (in English & French) Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former (A.Einstein)
  • Universal Declaration of Human Rights
    • http://www.un.org/Overview/rights.html
    • - Article 1 : All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
    • - Article 2 : Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Furthermore, no distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs, whether it be independent, trust, non-self-governing or under any other limitation of sovereignty
  • Color
    • I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
    • (Martin Luther King)
    • I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color.
    • (Malcolm X)
    • No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion.
    • People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
    • (Nelson Mandela)
    •

  • Color …
    • In the land of my birth I cannot vote, whereas a young person of eighteen can vote. And why?
    • Because he or she possesses that wonderful biological attribute - a white skin.
    • (Desmond Tutu)
    • To like an individual because he's black is just as insulting as to dislike him because he isn't white.
    • (E.E. Cummings)
  • Racism ?
    • Racism is the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own, or the resulting unfair treatment of members of other races.
    • It is the discrimination or prejudice against individuals based on their race or skin colour.
    • Racism is the belief that human beings can be divided into races and that members of some races are inferior to members of other races
    • Racism is man's gravest threat to man - the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reason. (A.J. Heschel)
  • But suppose God is black ?
    • But suppose God is black? What if we go to Heaven and we, all our lives, have treated the Negro as an inferior, and God is there, and we look up and He is not white? What then is our response? (Robert Kennedy)
    • We don't know anything about racism. We've never experienced it. If words can make a difference in your life for seven minutes, how would it affect you if you heard this every day of your life? (Jane Elliot)
  • One day
    • One day our descendants will think it incredible that we paid so much attention to things like the amount of melanin in our skin or
    • the shape of our eyes or our gender instead of the unique identities of each of us as complex human beings.
    • (Franklin Thomas)
    • Our true nationality is mankind. (H.G. Wells)
    • We can go on talking about racism and who treated whom badly, but what are you going to do about it?
    • Are you going to wallow in that or are you going to create your own agenda?
    • (Judith Jamison)
  • One day
    • Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away, and that in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.
    • (Martin Luther King)
    • The Golden Rule : Treat others as you would like to be treated
    • At the heart of racism is the religious assertion that God made a creative mistake when He brought some people into being.
    • (Friedrich Otto Hertz)
