  • Adults and Children use the Internet in different ways DO YOU KNOW HOW YOUR CHILD USES THE INTERNET ? WE NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN OUR CHILDRENS’ ONLINE ACTIVITY, VALIDATE THEIR SKILLS + LEARN FROM THEM YOUNG PEOPLE Interactive chat, IM, Music, Games, PARENTS Mostly e-mail and web for research
  • We must start to understand that being on-line is just being in another ‘real’ place
  • The difference between Knowledge and Wisdom HELP YOUR CHILDREN TO UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT TECHNOLOGY IS THROWING UP NEW IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES WHICH CHILDREN MAY NOT SEE KNOWLEDGE Many children pick up technology quicker ! WISDOM Understanding how to behave in a virtual world

    • &quot;Early-> first (up to 8 yrs):- I am developing problem solving strategies, navigation and co-ordination skills, as I play and learn with electronic games, remote control or programmable toys.
    • Third: (12 - 15 yrs):- Using appropriate software, I can design and implement a gam e or other application which is interesting and entertaining.
    • Fourth (Up to 15 yrs):- By learning the basic principles of a programming language, I can design a solution to a scenario, implement and evaluate its success.
