  • What exactly is a film marketing package
    A film marketing package is basically how a film promotes itself to attract audiences to go and watch the film
    The package promotes through cross media platforms such as:
    Trailers in the cinema, tv and on the internet
    Posters placed in public areas as well as cinemas
    Radio adverts
    Previews and premiers of the movie
    Magazine front covers and interviews
    3D cut outs
    Social media events and tweeting
    Also tv interviews.
    All of these are examples of how a films is promoted.
  • So how was the Hangover 2 promoted
    The hangover 2 is a sequel to The hangover,which is was rated one of the best comedy movies of all time. So you would think that they wouldn’t have to promote the movie as much due to it would all ready have a huge fan base.
    However they decided to do the opposite and promote on multiple platforms of media including viral advertising on the internet, spotify links and the traditional trailer
  • The hangover 2 Poster campaign
    To promote the movie they firstly used the most traditional way of advertising a movie and that is using a poster.
    As you can see the promotion team made several different posters to market the movie such as the posters with just the actors in. These collections of posters contain individual quotes from the actors within the movie. This variation of posters gives the audience a deeper understanding of the characters and the plot, hopefully incising people to go and watch the movie.
  • The hangover 2 trailers
    A movie trailer is usually used to promote the movie on tv and in the cinema itself. The purpose of it is to showcase the movie’s highlights through showing clips from the movie
    Traditionally there would only be one trailer used to promote the movie however the hangover used several,

    The purpose of using the two different trailers is to entice the audience to watch the second trailer.
  • Premiere’s and Interviews
  • A film premier is the last type of promotion before the movie is put out on general sale to the public and it represents the opening of the film in that country. It ussuallyinvovles all the cast and production team been invited to watch the final product before the public. There sometimes is also celebrities invited to the event as well to promote the movie that little bit more.
    Hangover 2 had several different premieres including hollywood, new york and london. These premieres are all about the final product and promoting the actors to the audience. Giving the actors a chance to talk about the movie from their prospective.
  • How the marketing package did
    The hangover 2 on its first week made $86,035,000 at the box office showing that clearly the marketing package worked with enticing the audience to go and see the sequel.
    The cross media platforms been used to market the movie aided the movie towards being succesful showing a perfect example of continuity of tag lines,fonts colours on posters to trailers and even the premiere all coming together to form a perfecting promotion package.
