  •  6 year training program  Currently includes 2 years of training related to ICU, 3 years ICU, 1 year Medicine and 1 year anaesthetics  3 years basic and 3 years advanced training  6 month SR post  BASIC  ADAPT  Project  Primary and fellowship exams
  • Changes from 2014  6 months basic training and 2 references to join College  Primary still multiple options….may change  12 months medicine  6 months acute/ED  6 months with longitudinal care  4 long cases  3.5 years ICU  6 months basic  2 years advanced  1 year transition  Post CICM fellowship and focus on transition to Specialist
  •  Paediatrics  6 months PICU/12 months in mixed unit/APLS  3 months rural time  Work based competencies  Including online packages at different stages  ECHO course + 50 studies  Adequate exposure to neuro/cardiac/trauma  Mandatory courses including BASIC/ADAPT/Communication/ECHO/Difficult airway/Consultant transition
  •  Things to consider  Fellowship year  c/w surgical specialties  Developing a skill/interest  Broad exposure in different units  Be open minded to opportunities  What makes you attractive to employ?  Dual training??
