Cristmas in Estonia - Presentation Transcript

  1. Christmas in Estonia Kristel, Keili, Avely, Kaspar, Simo, Steven, Enar, Taavi, Sander, Rainis grade 7 Vara Basic School , Estonia teacher: Olga Antriainen
  2. A dvent 1
    • In Estonia Christmas time begins 4 weeks before Christmas.
    • This time we call advent.
    • This year the first day of advent is on the 2nd of December.
  3. A dvent 2
    • This year the first day of advent is on the 2nd of December.
    • In the first day of advent we light a candle.
    • Every Sunday we put one candle beside, so that by the forth day of advent we have four candles already.
  4. A dvent 3
    • In the Toomas day, 21. December people clean their houses.
    • This is Toomas, who keep house cleen.
  5. Gnomes 1
    • Gnomes are assistants of Santa Claus.
    • They help him to distribute gifts to the children.
  6. Gnomes 2
    • Every evening during advent children put the slippers on a window and find sweets there in the morning.
  7. Gnomes 3
    • In the winter in Estonia the gnomes work in a place called the Grounds Of Gnomes where children can visit. They can play and have fun with the gnomes.
  8. Santa Claus 1
    • Santa Claus brings gifts under a Christmas-tree on December, 24th. Santa Claus has red clothes and a long white beard.

    • The most important Santa Claus lives near to Estonia, in the north of Finland in Lapland.

    • The basic Christmas meal in Estonia is a blood sausage, a sourcrout, a potato and pork. Drinks – gl ögi and hot wine. In olden times people made home beer for christmas.

    • Sweets are peppery cookies and apples.
    • Cookies are decorated with color glaze.
  13. C hristmas music
    • In the C hristmas month we listen and we sing together many christmas songs.
    • Christmas music is quiet and joyful, it also cheers us up.

    • We celebrate Christmas at school too.
    • Usually we have a C hristmas concert in a church ...

    • ... and a christmas party at school.
  17. Christmas at school 3
    • Each class decorates their room.
    • Corridors and halls are decorated too.
    • Pupils in each class make gifts for the raffle.
  18. Christmas at home 1
    • In each house on Christmas people put a Christmas-tree. We decorate Christmas-tree with fairy lights and ornaments.

    • Doors of the houses are decorated too.
  20. Christmas at home 3
    • On christmas Saturday, which is December, 24th people go to the cemetery and light candles there.
  21. Christmas at home 4
    • Gifts are opened in the evening on December, 24th.
