    What Next? - Presentation Transcript

    1. What next???
    2. Some things must change • Classroom management • Teacher supervision • Lesson preparation • Resource development
    3. Some things must remain the same • Student focus • High engagement • Quality relationships • Quality resources • Focus on outcomes
    4. This BBB • 3 outcomes – Increase confidence in a laptop class – Learn 3 online tools to enhance learning – Develop a ‘lesson ready’ teaching program
    5. What we need to unlearn Courtesy of Will Richardson • the idea that we are the sole content experts in the classroom, because we can now connect our kids to people who know far more than we do about the material we're teaching.
    6. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn the premise that we know more than our kids, because in many cases, they can now be our teachers as well.
    7. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn the idea that learning itself is an event. In this day and age, it is a continual process.
    8. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn the notion that our students don't need to see and understand how we ourselves learn.
    9. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn our fear of putting ourselves and our students \"out there\" for we've proven we can do it in safe, relevant and effective ways.
    10. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn the practice that teaches all students at the same pace. Is it any wonder why so many of our students love to play online games where they move forward at their own pace?
    11. What we need to unlearn • We need to unlearn the idea that students needs and world-views are the same now as when we trained to be teacher s.
    12. Tool #1: Delicious
    13. Delicious • Social Bookmarking – not private bookmarking • There to share • Let your students use it too • Consider it a social annotated bibliography
    14. Delicious
    15. Your task • Create and account • Add bookmarks with quality tags • Share with a network • Give the address to your students • Have them create their own accounts and link it to yours • Tell the library staff
