How To Stay Happy - Presentation Transcript

    1. HOW TO STAY Happy: Advice from an aging doctor
    2. 1. Try everything twice while we are alive. On failing once, try again lah! On my tombstone, I want it written, "He lived to be a wise, very, very old man!!“ ha ha ha ha ha
    3. 2. Keep learning about nature. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever, and we will realise it is ALL Dhamma. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is Mara's workshop." And his name is Alzheimer's!
    4. 3. Enjoy the simple things. Eat less. Dress simply.
    5. 4. Laugh often, until we gasp for breath. And if we have a friend who makes us laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER. Really really treasure him. Notice that all the people who are wise are Happy and Content!
    6. 5. The tears happen. Of course it does. Why should it NOT happen to us? Endure, grieve, LET GO and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. L IVE while we are alive. Let GO, IT WILL PASS!
    7. 6. Surround ourselves with good friends: If we say we don't have any, ask if it is because we are 'good'? Or 'not so Good'!! Good people naturally attract good friends!
    8. 7. Cherish our health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what we can improve, get help. If it is beyond help, ACCEPT it! And laugh at it. No point being upset with what we cannot change!
    9. 8. Take a trip to the nearest forest retreat centre, observe what peace there is in SILENCE . Realise that life is much MORE than Money, Hurry and Curry!
    10. 9. Tell the people we love that we love them, at every opportunity. I love you, my friends. No point trying to tell them when we are DEAD, after all most people are frightened of Ghosts!
    11. 10. Forgive now those who made us cry. We might not get a second time.
    12. Lost time can never be found. Please use it well.
    13. The End May you be well, happy and peaceful.
