ALL FOR MANKIND A Buddhist Hymn From The Wayfarers
Refrain thyself from every evil deed : Establish thyself in good : Cleanse thine own thoughts : This is the Message of the Awakened Ones.
Impermanent, Alas! are all compounded things. Their nature is to rise and fall. When they have arisen they cease. The bringing of them to an end is Bliss.
When Prince Siddharta was twenty-nine
He left His Kingdom just to find That sorrowful feeling deep inside
Since the Four Sights He’d seen Note: The 4 Sights of an old man, a sick man, a dead man and a monk made Siddhartha contemplate deeply
When the moon was way up high
He left His child, His beautiful wife No goodbye, No nothing Nor a cry
For Mankind that He did
You left Your princely life To seek Eternal Bliss
For Mankind that You did No Sorrow, Guilt or Pain
Ignorant and foolish people become lazy. The wise man regards mindfulness as his greatest treasure .
It is good to train the wandering mind. A mind under control brings great happiness.
The conquest of oneself is better than the conquest of others.
The Words, the Dhamma that He taught
We learn, we practise, forget we’ll not
His Teachings, we’ll follow For we all know For Mankind that He did
You left Your Princely life To seek Eternal Bliss
For Mankind That You did No Sorrow, Guilt or Pain
The wise man will give up a lesser pleasure for a greater joy.
All things are changing. He who realizes this is freed from suffering. This is The Path.
The End May we strive on in the Dhamma With Metta : Bro. Oh Teik Bin
