Pediatric Cancer Research Funding OpportunityThanks to the generous support of Umpqua Bank, the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and DoernbecherChildrens Hospital are accepting applications for the Umpqua Bank Innovation Award for PediatricCancer Research. The purpose of this $10,000 award is to cultivate outstanding pediatric cancerresearch by assisting in the generation of preliminary data for peer-reviewed national funding or careerdevelopment proposals. Scientific excellence will be the key review element for applications with apriority on research that has the greatest potential to yield improvements in cancer therapy, diagnosisor prevention.Eligibility: Proposals for the Umpqua Bank Innovation Award for Pediatric Cancer Research will beaccepted from investigators who are faculty members within five years of their first faculty appointmentor are in a senior fellowship or post-doctoral position in transition to independent funding.Funding Period: Twelve monthsAllowable Costs: Personnel, supplies, travel, and other expenses, such as use of shared resources.Investigator salary is allowed, but clear justification as to why it is necessary should be provided (fundsshould be used principally in direct support of the research). Equipment that is essential for the study,and is not otherwise available, may be requested.Application Process: Applicants will submit a formal proposal that will include a cover letter addressing:significance and innovation of the proposed research, collaborative aspects of the project, proposedtimeline for project completion, research training to date and mentorship, how this funding will furthertheir cancer research career, and plans for future submission.
