Columbus State Community College
Columbus State Community College (CSCC) offers 2-year career programs in 55 areas of business, health, public service, human service, and engineering technologies
CSCC is home to more than 22,000 students, with more than 1,000 faculty and staff
Students can take the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree, and then transfer to a four-year college
CSCC has a diverse student population, with close to half of the students between ages of 15 to 29 years old. CSCC also has a 20%+ minority population

CSCC Testing
Pre-acceptance testing is a required before CSCC admission application is considered complete.
However, test results DO NOT AFFECT ACCEPTANCE TO COLUMBUS STATE!

Friday-Saturday 9 am-4:30 pm

In order to take the COMPASS/ESL Placement test you must have applied and received correspondence from the College letting you know you have been accepted.
The COMPASS/ESL Placement test consists of three parts: Writing, Mathematics and Reading. The Testing Center provides a basic calculator for the Mathematics portion. Testing is done on a walk-in basis an appointment is not necessary. If you plan on taking the COMPASS Placement test, report 2-3 hours before closing. Upon completion of testing you will be directed to see an advisor for an interpretation of results.
COMPASS/ESL Placement Testing will not be administered two hours prior to closing and testing must be finished by closing time. A photo ID is required for testing.

How to Access Financial Aid
There are various forms of financial aide available to students:

You must first complete the FAFSA form on-line and submit it to the U.S. Department of Education to determine your eligibility ( http://www.fafsa.ed.gov /)
Once the US Department of Education determines your eligibility, the student will receive an award letter by mail and CSCC will be notified as well (it takes 4-6 weeks for US Department of Ed. approval)
The Student should contact CSCC after receiving the award letter to verify that the school has received it as well
Take the award letter to CSCC’s Financial Aid Department to discuss options for aid (i.e. student loans, federal work/study) and to finalize payment

New students will be assigned an academic advisor based on course of study through Advising & Counseling Services once they are accepted to CSCC.
Students will work with an Academic Advisor within the major to create course plan for remainder of time at CSCC. Academic Advisors are assigned upon acceptance into the University.

Remember, students are required to take some basic requirement classes (Math, English) before he/she can take classes that are specific to area of interest
Those prerequisite classes will be determined after the student takes the placement tests
