Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) "Connecting with communities, connecting with ourselves."
Mission StatementThe Office of Civic Engagement aims to empower students tobe active leaders in their communities, promote criticalthinking about social justice issues, and develop citizenscommitted to a lifetime of public service. The Office of CivicEngagement accomplishes this by providing students withopportunities to engage in curricular and co-curricular servicethat build sustainable, positive relationships with communitypartners while reflecting on the social justice issues that affectcommunities on a local, national and global level.

Nonprofit Capacity Building Coordinator How did this position come to be? Cause: In 2009, the McDonough Center for Leadership and Business at Marietta College completed an in-depth study about nonprofit capacity building in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Effect: Through a grant from the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund, I was hired to coordinate the implementations of the study’s recommendations.
What is Nonprofit Capacity Building?
