    • Office of Civic Engagement (OCE) "Connecting with communities, connecting with ourselves."
    • Mission StatementThe Office of Civic Engagement aims to empower students tobe active leaders in their communities, promote criticalthinking about social justice issues, and develop citizenscommitted to a lifetime of public service. The Office of CivicEngagement accomplishes this by providing students withopportunities to engage in curricular and co-curricular servicethat build sustainable, positive relationships with communitypartners while reflecting on the social justice issues that affectcommunities on a local, national and global level.

    • Nonprofit Capacity Building Coordinator How did this position come to be? Cause: In 2009, the McDonough Center for Leadership and Business at Marietta College completed an in-depth study about nonprofit capacity building in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Effect: Through a grant from the Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund, I was hired to coordinate the implementations of the study’s recommendations.
    • What is Nonprofit Capacity Building?  Networking and“The primary intent of Advocacy organizational capacity is to  Financial Resources enhance an organization’s  Operations and ability to achieve its social Governance mission.”  Human Resources (Kibbe, 2004, p.7)  Marketing  Information Technology  Programs and Planning
    • Goals for the Office1. Increase student engagement within the community2. Increase student leadership positions3. Help fill community and nonprofit capacity building needs4. Promote dialogue of social justice issues
