    • Decorating an office space can be a delicate balancing act. On the one hand you want your office space to be inviting and pleasant for both employees and visitors, while on the other hand it must remain professional in look and feel.

  • 4. Embrace yourself & customers with color Lets paint the office walls!!! We recommend picking a color that reflects the spirit of your business. If you work in a traditionally conservative industry such as banking or legal services, you're better off choosing a neutral color such as light green, beige, or a shade of white. If your business is traditionally staffed by more creative types such as designers or artists, feel free to go for walls with more visual pizzazz. Whichever tone you choose, be sure to use high-quality paint that will last for a long time, as repainting an office space can be a disruptive event. Is your ceiling really high? If so, you can paint it virtually any color that goes with the rest of the room. If you’d like to bring the ceiling down visually, consider a color darker than your wall color or a warm color (both will advance and appear to bring the ceiling down to a level that is more in scale with your room). Also consider adding crown molding if not already there. The molding will also bring the ceiling down by calling your eye s attention to it. And it really finishes the room. Is your ceiling low or average height? Consider painting it a tint of the wall color. If your walls are a medium blue, then your ceiling would be the very lightest blue on the color swatch or even lighter (white with a dash of blue). This will help to round out the room and make the ceiling part of the overall decor not just that white sheet over the top.   • 5. What do colors mean
    • Red: raises a rooms energy level. It ’s a good choice when you want to stir up excitement, particularly at night. In the living room or dining room, red draws people together and stimulates conversation. In an entryway, it creates a strong first impression. Red has been shown to raise blood pressure, speed respiration and heart rate. It is usually considered too stimulating for bedrooms, but if you’re only in the room after dark, you ’ll be seeing it mostly by lamplight, when the color will appear muted, rich, and elegant. Red, the most intense, pumps the adrenaline like no other hue.
    • Yellow: captures the joy of sunshine and communicates happiness. It ’s perfect for kitchens, dining rooms, and bathrooms, where happy color is energizing and uplifting. In halls, entries, and small spaces, yellow can feel expansive and welcoming.Yellow although is a cheery color is not a good choice in main color schemes of a room. People are more likely to lose their tempers in a yellow room. Babies also seem to cry more in a yellow room. This color tends to create feeling of
frustration and anger in people.
    • Blue: brings down blood pressure and slows respiration and heart rate. That is why it is considered calming, relaxing, and serene, and is often recommended for bedrooms and bathrooms. Be careful, however: A pastel blue that looks pretty on the paint chip can come across as unpleasantly chilly when it s on the walls and furnishings, especially in a room that receives little natural light. If you opt for a light blue as the primary color in a room, balance it with warm hues in the furnishings
and fabrics.
    • Green: is considered the most restful color for the eye. Combining the refreshing quality of blue and the cheerfulness of yellow, green is suited to almost any room in the house.
    • Purple: in its darkest values (eggplant, for example) is rich, dramatic, and sophisticated. It ’s associated with luxury as well as creativity, and as an accent or secondary color, it gives a scheme depth. Lighter versions of purple, such as lavender and lilac, bring the same restful quality to bedrooms as blue does, but without the risk of feeling chilly.
    • Orange : evokes excitement, enthusiasm and is an energetic color. While not a good idea for a living room or for bedrooms this color is great for an exercise room. It will bring all the emotions out that you need when jumping into your fitness routine.In ancient cultures orange was used to heal the lungs and increase energy levels.

    • For example the perfect interior design for a doctor's office will be totally different from a high-tech computer company, or an engineering company.
    • So you, should first ask yourself what the nature of your business is and what message you want to communicate with your design: seriousness, impressive, luxury, friendliness, etc.?
    • How Much Space Is Available? The amount of furniture you can use in your design depends on how big/small your office is. So depending on the space, the design also will vary.

Selecting Furniture • Make sure the office furniture you choose fits the room and that there is enough room to open cabinets and drawers, and that people have enough room to get to their desks, and in and out of the office. • Office furniture needs to be suitable for purpose. A cool desk isn't necessarily functional. Café style chairs and tables might look good in a catalogue, but are they appropriate for a firm of solicitors? • Don't forget extra office furniture items like filing cabinets, book cases and computer stands as these will provide additional functionality and storage space for your office. • Make sure that your office furniture is ergonomic. • Divide the room where possible by having separate areas for different types of staff. Those who spend all day on the phone will have different furniture needs to those who need room to view design ideas or those who need peace and quiet. • Different moods can be created by using different colored chairs, desks, or tables. • Stylish hi tech modern designs, or traditional woods? What you choose will depend on the nature of your business. Your office furniture may be fashionable today, but will it still look stylish in 5 years time? • Think about the impression your office furniture has to give to clients as well as staff. Office furniture for a firm of accountants needs to be different from a graphic design company or a call centre. The office might be part of a factory or a restaurant or a shop, so it needs to be appropriate and in keeping with the company ethos. A design agency will want to appear creative and vibrant, whilst a solicitor's office will want to appear calming and welcoming. Think about the future, how easy is it to expand the office layout, using your chosen furniture? New employees or technology or processes and procedures may mean that the office layout has to change frequently. Can you move desk around yourselves, or do you need the fitters to take the desks apart so they can be rebuilt in a different part of the office? Healthy hardy plants for the Office The most effective plants and the ubiquitous Areca Palm came first for removing ammonia, and formaldehyde (found in many cleaning products) from the air and releasing moisture into the air.   • 9. Keep Décor minimal and simple
    • Do buy art from a local artist or gallery
    • Do find accessories at auctions , and outdoor flea markets
    • Do frame your art work in similar style frames and or color
    • Do frame office related notices
    • Do Visit local thrift stores or when out of town.
    • Do involve your employees
    • Do Go Green bring live plants in of minimal maintenance
    • Do use the principle of repetition when planning shapes, colors, fabrics, and patterns. One red accent in a room may look like an afterthought whereas several red accents here and there will contribute to the color scheme.
    • Do use a mix of patterns -- large-scale, small-scale, checks, stripes, geometrics, plain -- when coordinating a room.
    • Do pick a signature piece to focus your decorating decisions.
    • Do invest in good lighting

    • Don't Paint First 
You can buy paint in every color under the sun. In fact, you can have paint mixed in any imaginable color you might want. Choose fabric, carpet, and upholstery first.

    • Don’t use clear tape to hang your art or notices (awful)
    • Don’t Keep dead plants.
    • Don’t have visible cables or cords
    • Don't Choose Paint From a Paint Chip
    • Don't Build Barriers
Don't put a chair in front of a door or a table in an obvious traffic area. Leave room for easy access and movement within the room.
