David O’Brien – Creative Director/Principal David got his jump-start in marketing and advertising through internships with several East coast advertising agencies while still inschool at Bucknell University. Following graduation, he went to work in the trenches at Deutsch in New York as Traffic Manager and Assistant Account Executive. Leveraging this new found knowledge, David headed for Boston and the corporate side as the Marketing Manager for a medical products manufacturer. There, he wasresponsible for the in-house development of sales support materials,advertising and packaging, as well as trade show management. With experience on both sides of the fence under his belt, David finally made his way to Kansas City where he set up shop as a freelancegraphic designer. Today, almost 20 years after he began, and through many iterations and a couple of detours along the way, David is now where he truly wants to be – working with a fun group of partners to invigorate the brands of our diverse group of clients through the development of strategic, results-oriented work.

Cherie Dean – Creative Director/DigitalFresh out of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a B.F.A.under her belt, Cherie got started in graphic design with ZD Studiosas a Graphic Designer. After a couple of years getting her feet wetand getting a feel for the business, she moved on to revolution (adivision of Valentine Radford) as an Art Director. In 1999, after severalyears working for others, Cherie cut the corporate leash and wentout on her own, initially doing freelance for Mires Design (San Diego)then ultimately marking her territory in Kansas City as Owner andCreative Director of Fetch Design. Cherie brings over 15 years ofexperience invigorating brands through print, identity, environmentaland digital design.

Ryan Duffy – Creative Director/Copywriter Ryan is a copywriter who has created award-winning campaigns forsuch clients as Microsoft, Sprint, American Century Mutual Funds andthe Senior PGA Tour [now called The Champions Tour]. He’s worked in creative development of television, radio, print, web and direct mail projects for a variety of organizations, including those in the fields of retail, insurance, banking and higher education. Duffy’s 18-year advertising career has included stints with advertising agencies, both large and small – along with a two-year stint in the marketing department of a subsidiary of H&R Block. Duffy served as a President of the American Advertising Federation’s Kansas City chapter before becoming a part of the Pulse Marketing creative team.

Jim Potoski – PR Director/CopywriterJim is a copywriter, public relations practitioner and radio/TVbroadcaster who started his advertising and marketing career inthe mail room at McCann-Erickson Los Angeles. For more than twodecades he has worked almost exclusively with small businesses,emerging companies and entrepreneurs in developing a variety ofcreative and branding strategies. His portfolio includes radio,direct mail, press releases, media relations + story placement, sportsmarketing, trade shows and web projects. For the past four years Jimhas been a talent wrangler and co-host of “Good Sports – the KansasCity Sports & Fitness Radio/TV Show” heard live on Saturday morningson KCTE Hot Talk 1510 AM as well as for viewing the following weekon SureWest Cable Channel 7. Needing a diversion from the creativeprocess, he’s been a Missouri state-registered basketball official for17 years and volleyball for 12. All these conceptual, athletic andadministrative skill sets will be made available to clients and partnersas part of the Pulse Marketing creative team.
