Open Id Presentation Transcript

  • 2. “OpenIDs are universal login names which can be used at any OpenID- enabled website. These usernames resemble regular website domains or addresses, such as example.com/bill or steve.example.com”
  • 3. History • Developed by Brad Fitzpatrick of LiveJournal • Driven by blogosphere needs • Bounty program of $50,000 launched in 2006 • ~160 million OpenID’s and ~10 thousand sites supporting it “Nobody should own this. Nobody’s planning on making any money from this. The goal is to release every part of this under the most liberal licenses possible, so there’s no money or licensing or registering required to play. It benefits the community as a whole if something like this exists, and we’re all a part of the community.”
