  • 2. Quintin Gonzalez
  • 3. Quintin Gonzalez was born and raisedin Texas. He is very proud of hisMexican heritage.
  • 4. He received his art degree from Yale.
  • 5. Today, he teaches at the University ofColorado, Denver.
  • 6. Many of his works are of Luchadormasks, Mexican wrestling masks.
  • 7. Lucha Libre are free fighters in Mexico,much like our US wrestlers.
  • 8. They wear colorful masks when theywrestle.
  • 9. These masks are very popular inMexico.
  • 10. Quintin Gonzalezuses these colorfulmasks in his art.

  • 13. Interesting….why is one eye blue andone eye brown? Notice the differentskin colors and tattoos.
  • 14. Chicano 15 is very symmetrical. Noticehis use of bright colors.
  • 15. Joe Bravo is another Hispanic artistwho likes to use Luchador masks in hiswork.
  • 16. Joe Bravo began painting on tortiliasbecause his family was very poor.
  • 17. “I use the Tortilla as a Canvas because it is an integral part of theHispanic Culture and my heritage. For the subject matter of my tortillapaintings, I use imagery that is representative of Latinos, conveyingtheir hopes, art, beliefs and history. As the tortilla has given us life, Igive it new life by using it was an art medium.”

  • 23. He has met many famous people. Here a member of the band “Red, Hot ChiliPeppers” is buying one of his tortilla paintings.
  • 24. Joe Bravo is an amazing artist.
