Why is there a debate?
The dangers of teenage driving has come to
the attention of people.
In a parent’s view, less responsibilities would
like to be given to 16-year olds; in
contrast, teens would like more freedom.
Teenage Driving
• 16 year olds have higher crash rates than any
other age. They are three times more likely to
die in a motor vehicle than any other driver.
According to 2003 Fatality Analysis Reporting Systems:
Fatalities in Crashes involving a Young Driver
North Carolina
136 young 92 passengers 74 occupants 16 non-
of young of other

Common Q and A
Conclusion
Although driving at an earlier age may be
exciting, it puts others and the driver at a
higher risk of death. That is the reason why
insurance rates for teens are higher and
restrictions are made. Along with higher
requirements and a higher age comes
responsibility, maturity, and liability.
