In an effort to increase accountability, not-for-profits are looking for financial information systems to help better manage donations and expenditures to benefit their clients. Fund raising and grant applications can be tough and many not-for-profits are facing intense pressure to do more with less. Not-for-proft organizations have to adjust to a changing regulatory environment requiring more reporting, more detail and demanding more scrutiny than ever before. The FASB 116 & 117 reporting requirements have significantly changed the way not-for-profits need to capture and report information. In addition to the regulated reporting many not-for-profit agencies are trying to look beyond the data and to get relevant information from this data. Relevant information that allows organizations to identify risks, easily notice trends, and to identify areas to reduce spending. Relevant information that allows you to look forward to ensure you’ll be prepared to deliver on your mission. The need to operate an integrated system has risen over the year. Not-for-profits need a financial application that integrates with the operational solutions – like fund raising. All data needs to be connected so it can be effectively analyzed. The high cost of maintaining outdated, unintegrated systems has come under tight scrutiny. Are you feeling the pain with your current financial system? Are you faced today with finding an accounting system that will meet the every changing needs imposed upon you? Are you looking to spend less on managin gyour finances and more on your mission?

All of these applications are tightly integrated to keep Public Sector / government organizations running efficiently. Accountability to Budgets makes it necessary for the accounting solution to manage encumbrances and be able to report those encumbrances on a Statement of Activities report showing the fund balances and appropriations. Many NFP sources are derived from grants. The ability to track these monies and report the allocation of the funds is critical to ensure future awards. Microsoft Business Solutions is built to bring all of these requirements into one tightly integrated solution offering.

Centralized grant information. Consider the hours spent searching for and filing grant information when you don't have a centralized location for information. Gathering and updating scattered information takes valuable administrative time, and jeopardizes the accuracy of your grant information. Better decision-making. Automated grant management makes "real-time" details of grant transactions and allocations available any time. Ensured compliance with regulations. Most grants under a federal program must follow strict guidelines and regulations. Tight expense control, along with the frequent and detailed timely reports required by sponsors, can put a great amount of pressure on an organization. Advanced reporting. The ability to run periodic progress and program progress reports is also an essential need for day-to-day management of grants and projects. With automated grant management, redundant grant administration is a thing of the past. Timely information at your fingertips enables you to manage and redistribute your efforts accordingly. Accurate financial monitoring. A predominate challenge in managing grants is not exceeding the grant budget. Automated grant management capabilities help you stay within the budget for the entire life cycle of the grant. Definite accountability. Grants often have restrictions and conditions to the expenditure of an awarded grant. The funds received may be paid out in a variety of ways, ranging from full payment to periodic payments. The grantee must monitor programs and projects with great scrutiny to ensure budget integrity and accountability for every dollar spent.

Intro – No matter what type of Public Sector Organization you are, succeeding is still a matter of dollars and sense. At the same time, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act has created a new public awareness of issues of accountability and independence. Some believe that certain provisions of the act will ‘spill over’ into the NFP. So far this is not the case. Nonetheless, organizations operating in any community that depends upon the approval of the public to succeed cannot afford to overlook the implications that heightened scrutiny demands. Through our experience with customers and contacts in the public sector, we know that management shares common issues and concerns. The top 9 Financial Systems issues we’ve heard from executives today are: Streamline Budgeting Processes and Manage funds proactively Automated Grant Management Integrating Information and Improving Operational Efficiency Simplifying Reporting and Management Metrics - Flexibility Integrity of Data Using Portal and CRM Technologies to become more “Citizen Centric” Utilizing Technology to Drive Incremental Revenue Efficient Management and Utilization Human Resources Leveraging the Microsoft Platform, Business Applications & Productivity Tools Today we’ll show you how Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains is positioned to address and respond to each of these concerns, providing your organization a solid foundation for building business success.
