  • 2. The Ambulance Service of NSW
    • The primary responsibility of the Ambulance Service is to respond to
    • triple zero calls and provide emergency medical assistance
    • Control centres receive emergency and non-emergency requests for
    • ambulance services and are responsible for deploying ambulance
    • resources to each incident
    • Control centres are located in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and
    • Dubbo and coordinate ambulances within their geographical areas
    • The Aeromedical Control Centre is located in Sydney and
    • coordinates urgent and routine fixed and rotary wing transfers
    • throughout New South Wales

    • There are 226 Ambulance stations across the State supporting 3,500 uniformed personnel
    • In the last financial year Ambulance responded to more than

    • Helicopter Retrieval Paramedics are Ambulance Service of NSW Intensive Care Paramedics
    • scope of practice is defined by a Certificate to Practice issued by the Medical Director of the Ambulance Service of NSW reissued biannually with continuous learning principle
    • pharmacology, equipment and medical procedures performed additional to the paramedic’s scope of practice are authorised by the attending Ambulance Physician
