112-YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES (Reality of Life) 112-YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES (Reality of Life) Presentation Transcript

  • You havetwo choices
  • Jerry is the manager of arestaurant. He is always in agood mood.
  • When someone would askhim how he was doing, hewould always reply,
  • "If I were any better, Iwould be twins!"
  • Many of the waiters at hisrestaurant quit their jobswhen he changed jobs,
  • so they could follow himaround from restaurant torestaurant
  • Why ?
  • BecauseJerry was a naturalmotivator.
  • If an employee was having abad day,Jerry was always there, tellingthe employee how to look onthe positive side of thesituation.
  • Seeing this style really mademe curious, so one day I wentup to Jerry and asked him :
  • "I dont get it! No one can bea positive person all of thetime. How do you do it?"
  • Jerry replied, "Each morningI wake up and say tomyself, I have two choicestoday. I can choose to be ina good mood or I canchoose to be in a badmood.
  • I always choose to be in agood mood. Each time something badhappens, I can choose tobe victim or I can chooseto learn from it. I alwayschoose to learn from it.
  • Every time someone comesto me complaining, I canchoose to accept theircomplaining or I can pointout the positive side of life.I always choose the positiveside of life."
  • "But its not always thateasy,“ I protested.
  • "Yes it is," Jerry said.
  • "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all thejunk every situation is achoice.
  • You choose how you react tosituations. You choose how people willaffect your mood. You choose to be in a goodmood or bad mood. Its your choice how you live yourlife."
  • Several years later,
  • I heard that Jerry accidentallydid something you are neversupposed to do in therestaurant business.
  • He left the back door of hisrestaurant open
  • And then ???
  • In the morning,he was robbed by threearmed men.
  • They want?
  • #123*+!@$%&*~
  • While Jerry trying to openthe safe box,
  • his hand, shaking fromnervousness, slipped offthe combination. The robbers panicked andshot him.
  • Luckily, Jerry was foundquickly and rushed to thehospital.
  • After 18 hours of surgery
  • andweeks of intensive care,
  • Jerry was released from thehospital with fragments ofthe bullets still in his body.…
  • I saw Jerry about sixmonths after the accident.
  • When I asked him how hewas,
  • he replied, "If I were anybetter, Id be twins. Wantto see my scars?"
  • I declined to see hiswounds, but did ask himwhat had gone throughhis mind as the robberytook place.
  • "The first thing that wentthrough my mind was thatI should have locked theback door," Jerry replied.
  • "Then, after they shot me, asI lay on the floor, Iremembered that I had twochoices: I could choose tolive or could choose to die. Ichose to live."
  • "Werent you scared“I asked?
  • Jerry continued, "Theparamedics were great. They kept telling me I wasgoing to be fine.
  • But when they wheeled meinto the Emergency Roomand I saw the expressionon the faces of the doctorsand nurses, I got reallyscared.
  • In their eyes, I read Hes adead man.
  • I knew I needed to takeaction."
  • "What did you do?" I asked.
  • "Well, there was a big nurseshouting questions at me,"said Jerry. "She asked if Iwas allergic to anything."
  • Yes, I replied.
  • The doctors and nursesstopped working as theywaited for my reply.
  • I took a deep breath
  • and yelled, Bullets!
  • Over their laughter, I toldthem,
  • I am choosing to live. Please operate on me asif I am alive, not dead.
  • "Jerry lived thanks to theskill of his doctors, butalso because of hisamazing attitude.
  • I learned from himthat
  • every day you have thechoice to either enjoy yourlife or to hate it.
  • The only thing that is trulyyours -- that no one cancontrol or take from you-
  • is your attitude,
  • so if you can take care ofthat, everything else in lifebecomes much easier.
  • Now you have two choicesto make:
  • 1. You can delete thismessage or2. You can forward it tosomeone you care about.
  • I hope you will choose #2.I did.
