      • A free, open source Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
      • Launched at the University of Bath at the beginning of the 2006/07 academic year
      • Will be upgraded to version 1.9 during summer 2008
    3. moodle.bath.ac.uk 3 How will this affect me?
      • All existing Moodle courses will be migrated over to the new version.
      • Content of most courses will remain unaffected by the change.
      • Moodle will be unavailable between 7 - 9 June 2008 .
      • Improved functionality and new features.
      • Changes to the look and feel.

      • Social networking functionality
      • User-based blogs
      • Expected [Learning] Outcomes can be linked to particular courses or activities.
      • Students can submit multiple files in the Assignment module.
      • Enhancement of the Gradebook .
      • The Database activity
      • Roles have been introduced

      • Improved accessibility of the interface
      • An improved wiki
      • Backup and Restore functionality has been extended
      • Students can be members of more than one group within a Moodle course. Within a course groups can be clustered in groupings
      • Improvements in the Quiz activity
      • Synchronisation of student data with SAMIS has been streamlined.

      • Try out Moodle 1.9 in the sandbox (test installation).

      • Consider development of new activities (which can be copied from the sandbox to the live version, when it is available in June).
