OurAFLP girls in particular have a very hard time returning to schoolbecause they cannot afford child care and the wait list forsubsidized child care can run up to 2-3 years. In Metro LA, thereare very few schools that have on-site and/or coordinated childcare, and because there are so few of them, getting into one isvery difficult. And recently the County has closed most of theIndependent Study Programs that they operated. We arefortunate that several years ago the option was given to the Cal-Learn Programs to have on-site Independent Study Programs. That has been extremely helpful for our program. - ChildcareprogramIntroduced:02/21/2013Last Day Amended:04/01/2013Location:Senate HumanServices CommitteeProgram: IHSSLegislative Analyst:BautistaCounty position:WatchCWDA position:SB 579 (Berryhill T (R)) - In-Home Supportive ServicesMakes technical, nonsubstantive changes to provisions ofexisting law providing for the county-administered In-HomeSupportive Services (IHSS) Program relating to county-only fundsto fund both the county share and the state share when anyincrease in IHSS provider wages or benefits is negotiated oragreed to by a public authority or nonprofit consortium.Introduced:02/22/2013Last Day Amended:04/06/2013Location:Sentate RulesCommitteeProgram:CalFreshLegislative Analyst:BadajosCounty position:WatchCWDA position:SB 672 (Leno (D)) - CalFresh: Eligibility: GuidelinesRequires the State Department of Social Services to issueguidance to simplify the verification of earned income anddependent care for purposes of verifying deductions necessary todetermine eligibility for or the benefit level of CalFresh.
