  • The Encore OPAC upgrade adds some new features and rearranges some of the elements of the catalog.We’ll do a few searches to demonstrate the new features. From the OPAC home screen, lets search for cats.

  • There are two options in each item record: Request it or Add to cart.We’ll request an item first.
  • After I sign in…
  • …I’m asked where I want to pick up my hold. Use the drop down menu to select a library.
  • I can also add this book to a list. Just click Add to cart.
  • The Request it and Add to cart links are visible on the results page under each title. Use these links to quickly request items.To add an item to a list, click Add to cart.
  • Now we see “remove from cart” – that lets us know the item is in our cart.Let’s take a look at the book cart.
  • At the top of the page, click on My Book Cart.
  • Each item in the book cart has a checkbox.Checkmark the items you want to add to a list – both of my items are already checked.Next click Save to list.
  • If you move your mouse over an item in your book cart, you’ll see a few icons.Click the checkmark to request an item.Click the X+shopping cart to remove an item from your cart.Click the floppy disk icon to save the item to a list.Click the envelope icon to email yourself the record.Let’s go back to the search result list.

    • 2. When you find a book, dvd, or other item in the Encore OPAC, there are a couple of things you can do.
    • 3. We’ll search for cats and take a look at the options.
    • 4. Each item in the results list has a Request button and an Add to cart button.
    • 5. You can use these links to quickly request items or collect several items in a shopping cart.
    • 6. The Request and Add to cart links are also at the top of each item record.
      Let’s Requestthis book.
    • 7. Log in with your library card number and PIN.
    • 8. You’ll get a window asking for a pickup location.
      Choose your branch and click Submit.
    • 9. But what if you want to request a lot of items?
      Is there a way to speed things up?
      Yes!
    • 10. In my results list, I’ve found the first book I want to request.
      I’ll click Add to cart…
    • 11. …and the link changes to read Remove from cart. This lets me know the item was successfully added.

      I’ll click Add to cart…

    • 14. The link for the Cart is at the top of the Encore OPAC screen.
    • 15. There are two items in my cart. Both are selected with a checkmark. If I wanted to unselect an item, I can click the checkbox to uncheck.

      I’ll click Request.
    • 17. Log in with your library card number and PIN.

      I’ll click to choose a pickup location…

      …and I’ll click Submit to finish my request.
    • 21. What if you find several books, add them to your cart, and then realize you don’t have your library card?
      You can add the titles to a list!
    • 22. I want to save both items to a list for later.
      Both items are checked.
      I’ll click Save to list.
    • 23. I can save to an existing list by choosing from the drop down menu. Or I can make a new list – that’s what we’ll do.
    • 24. Type the name of your list. Give it a description if you want to.
    • 25. Then click Createto save your list.
    • 26. The confirmation tells you your list was saved.
    • 27. Lists are saved in your Library Account.
      To view your saved lists, click on the My Account link.
    • 28. Click My Lists to view your saved lists.
