Most of today’s leaders did not “grow up” in Agile development shops. For so many of us, we were raised on waterfall, spent most of our years as a developer in this model, and we now lead a team of developers/testers/etc. in a process that we never worked in. Does that mean we can’t do it effectively and efficiently? Absolutely not! However, it isn’t easy. Many of the tried-and-true techniques your bosses taught you need to be “tweaked” a bit in order to ensure that YOU don’t unknowingly undermine everything you and your team are working towards in trying to be Agile.
