In 5 th Grade GT, we are studying the connection between the early philosophers and mathematicians. We have researched Thales and his skills of observations and logic and for the past 2 weeks we studied the genius of Pythagoras. The students learned briefly about his unique behavior and the oddities that obviously contributed to his wisdom. They then worked in groups to research more about his life and accomplishments. They were challenged to find the depth and complexity icons: “Big Idea, Details, and Relate over time.” The following slides show their reflections and what they presented to the class.
