MAIN PHASES <ul><li>The Bohemian war (1618-1623) in which protestant revolt in Bohemia was crushed by the Catholic league. </li></ul><ul><li>The Danish war (1624-1629) between Denmark and the Habsburgs. </li></ul><ul><li>The Swedish war(1630-1635) between Sweden and the Habsburgs. </li></ul><ul><li>The French war(1635-1648) between France and the Habsburgs. </li></ul>

THE SPANISH WAR OF SUCCESSION (1700-1714) <ul><li>Charles II of Spain was dying without an heir </li></ul><ul><li>Designated Louis XIV of France grandson Philip </li></ul><ul><li>Other European countries not accept </li></ul><ul><li>Charles II died and Philip crowned Philip V of Spain. War began! </li></ul><ul><li>Ended the dynasty of the Habsburg and began the dynasty of Bourbon. </li></ul>

AGREEMENTS OF UTRECHT <ul><li>SPAIN: Spain and France had to remain separated. </li></ul><ul><li>Lost Spanish Netherlands. </li></ul><ul><li>FRANCE: Expansion was stopped </li></ul><ul><li>HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE: They received the Duchy of some countries. </li></ul><ul><li>ENGLAND: An agreement called “Asiento de Negros”. </li></ul><ul><li>FRANCE: extension stop and lost some colonial. </li></ul>
  7. 9. IÑIGO VÉLEZ DE GUEVARA <ul><li>WHO WAS IÑIGO: seventh Count of Oñate and Count of Villamediana was a Spanish political figure. He played a important role in this war. </li></ul><ul><li>HIS LIVE: He was the son of Pedro Vélez de Guevara and María de Tassis. He married Catalina Vélez, her only brother Ladrón was killed in battle on sea against the English in 1588 </li></ul><ul><li>IÑIGO AND THE 30 YEAR’S WAR: He persuaded Protestant Saxony to intervene against Bohemia in exchange for control over Lusatia. </li></ul>
