Peace And Conflict Christian Teachings 8 - Presentation Transcript

    1. Teachings on forgiveness and reconciliation
    2. Objective To understand Christian teachings on forgiveness and reconciliation.
      • Forgiveness – The act of stopping the blaming of someone and/or pardoning them for what they have done wrong.
      • Reconciliation – Bringing together people who were opposed to each other.
    3. Christians should forgive Because: Jesus died on the cross to bring forgiveness and reconciliation When Peter asked if he should forgive his brother upto7 times Jesus replied he should forgive up-to 27 times. Jesus said if people did not forgive those who have sinned against them, God will not forgive their sins. St Paul said that Christians should try to live in peace with everyone.
    4. Islam, forgiveness and reconciliation
      • How can Muslims ask for forgiveness on the day of judgment if they have not forgiven others.
      • God is compassionate – so Muslims should be too
      • The Quran says that Muslims should forgive other people’s sins against them and Muslims should obey the Quran as they believe it is the word of God.
      • Muslims must not forgive those who are working against Islam or those denying Islamic principles.
