The Student. My Personal Brand The Student. My Personal Brand Presentation Transcript

    • The Student
      Nicole Marie Rogers. The Brand
My personal brand? It’s about finding myself , and evolving… I am always The Student
    • A personal brand?
In Public Relations we have to define our audience- know our objectives- and convey the message accurately. Today it’s not just about defining the brand or company you work for…it’s about become your own brand. This will help you stand out from the crowd.
After pondering my lack of creativity and self-realization, it came to me, of course I can’t define my personal brand…and I wouldn’t want to! I’m 23 years-old, and I want to keep evolving, keep learning, keep discovering! And I want what I experience to affect me (both positively and negatively). I am discovering myself in a PR world; just as my prospective field of public relations is growing with the new age of social media, so am I.
    • The Brand
      My Key Message
I am the student…always. The student listens, asks constructive questions, and applies the right knowledge to areas in their life. The student also teaches the mentor, whether it is intentional or not. So I want to stress that to be a student, is not to take the inferior role in life.
Forget The Secret, The Power of Now, or Eat, Pray, Love….because to refer to those social references would be overdone and cliché. To be the best “me”, I need to keep evolving…because defining me, just isn’t working. So PR and I will just have to learn the ropes together.
    • My Goal
To keep learning, and to share my experiences with others. Whether it’s learning to cook a new recipe, exploring something on the web, or simply learning from mistakes or acts of stupidity…it’s to keep learning and applying new lessons to my everyday life.
To meet online peers (fellow “student”-type brands) & to connect with fellow explorers.
To blog about interesting or humours findings and opinions that may be of interest to fellow peers.
To establish by brand and name online
    • Measureable objectives
A student always takes baby steps, so I propose to insert a new blog post, video, or experience on my blog once a week beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11th 2009
To have a variety of blog categories by January 2010 that I continue to add to. (e.g. opinion, “learn something new everyday”, “twentysomethings”, food and dining, “tips from the student.”
      Critical Path
After accumulating a number of blog posts (once a week and networking through twitter)
I want to establish a presence on the web by the beginning of December. This will include: comments, links, and polls which illustrate the beginning of a relationship with readers.
By January 2010 I am looking to have at least 10 blog followers & 200 twitter followers
    • SWOT analysis
    • Channels
my blog will be the main platform of communication.
I have also included a link to my blog from my twitter account.
      Tweet new blog posts
      Facebook
      LinkedIn
Commenting on other blogs under my wordpress blog name “The Student”.
    • Rationale
I hope that my blog is informative, entertaining, and connects to other’s who embrace being a student everyday of their lives. My go-to-market are young adults who can relate to the sense of confusion I am experiencing at this point in my life. My blog is also for the young-at-heart who continue to embrace innovation and development.
    • Strategies & Tactics
To blog about current, newsworthy, and trendy topics that catch a readers attention
Using media tactics. News hooks evaluate the interest of a blog topic. (new, controversial, human interest, celebrity, proximity, etc.)
To use witty or surprising blog titles to capture attention to the blog post
Embedding my blog links into my tweets to maximize reader base.
To feature my brand plan and blog on other social networking sites (facebook, LinkedIn, and twitter).
To network and converse online with other bloggers to enhance the learning experience for all members.
